Homemade Candy Apples

Autumn & Halloween is right around the corner. We’re getting into the spirit and decided to make homemade candy apples today! Sasha is my big helper, she loves to bake!

Before you begin, rub Crisco on a cookie sheet. You can lay your candy apples on it & the candy coating won’t stick!

Put Popsicle sticks into 10 apples. Push them in through the bottom of the apple. Twist off top stem.

Boil, 2 cups sugar, 1 cup light corn syrup, 1-1/2 cups water, 8 drops red food coloring.

Stir until liquid begins to boil then stop stirring. Boil to 305 degrees. Once it reaches 305 degrees on the candy thermometer, mix in 1/8 tsp. Crisco. This helps the candy to not bubble so much on the apple.

Holding the apple by the stick, dip each one into the candy liquid and set on the cookie sheet to cool.
once cooled, refrigerate.
